Summary

As a Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Operator & CDL Driver at Gunter Construction Company, Inc., you will be an essential part of our operations, responsible for horizontal directional drilling and transporting materials and equipment to various job sites. This role is vital in ensuring our projects run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to our mission of delivering high-quality construction services.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able operate company vehicle. Required to have Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement with no restrictions.
  • Must have a basic understanding of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) operations.
  • Must have a clear understanding of how to read the monitors on the drill.
  • Operator must have a clear understanding of the direction, pitch and depths.
  • Operator must be able to drill around other utilities.
  • Make sure that drill is properly set up and make sure pedestrians and co-workers are safe from the hazards.
  • You must be able to wear the required PPE (dielectric gloves and overboots) at all times and while operating the drill. All PPE will be issued by GCC.
  • Must be able to listen and take direction from locator.
  • Maintain safe and efficient work environment.
  • Must maintain tooling and keep in compliance with SCG standards.
  • Provide daily reports.
  • Identify hazards on jobsites and take corrective measures.
  • Promptness / Punctuality is required every day.
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor with other employees and clients
  • Must be able to problem solve quickly to maintain job productivity.
  • Must have knowledge of GCC employee handbook, our clients OPM and Best Practices.
  • Must be able to communicate with job foreman and relay basic information.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement no restrictions.
  • Experience with horizontal directional drilling is a plus but not required.
  • Proven experience driving medium duty flatbed and pull a trailer.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting vehicle issues as they arise.
  • Familiarity with construction site operations and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Possess strong communication skills and be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements required for the job.

Job Type: Full-time
