JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose: The Construction Operator is responsible for operating their assigned equipment safely and responsibly. Equipment may include trucks, mini excavators, backhoes, dozers, tamps, and saws.
Scope & Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment such as trucks, mini excavators, backhoes, dozers, and other equipment to assist installing pipe in the ground
- Perform daily safety checks and general and preventative checks, and advise the construction foreman as needed
- Ensure work is being performed safely and with company standards
Requirements:
- Understand underground utility construction
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and random drug tests
- Must possess knowledge of equipment operating techniques and safety associated with moving earth, digging, and compacting
- Must display mechanical aptitude, have good hand-eye coordination and be able to operate the controls on the machines
- Must be able to maintain a work schedule and be dependable
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds and stand for four (4) hour periods of time
- Must be able to perform strenuous labor under poor or less than ideal field conditions
- Must be able to quickly move arms and legs and abdominal and lower back muscles
Preferred:
- Knowledge of natural gas utility construction
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills
