Job Title: Construction Manager (New Business)
Location: Lawrenceville, GA
Reports To: Director of Construction
This management role provides leadership and direction to natural gas distribution construction supervisors and crews, rendering hands-on assistance as needed. The New Business Construction Manager will manage the operations with a focus on safety, compliance, eiciency, cost management and innovation. This role manages construction activities to ensure client and company procedures are followed and compliance is maintained relative to all applicable local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
Scope & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for field operations, customer relations and business development in an assigned area, territory, customer or project
- Manage the operations with a focus on safety, compliance, e iciency, cost management and innovation
- Manage construction activities to ensure client and company procedures are followed and compliance is maintained relative to all applicable local, state and federal regulatory requirements
- Champion safety by modeling behaviors, maintaining a drug free work environment and performing corrective action when appropriate
- Serve as point of contact with customers, subcontractors and vendors
- Manage and oversee the execution of field deliverables according to client and company specifications and requirements
- Manage the planning and executing of projects and contracts by organizing work methods and developing schedules
- Manage cost control, margin expectations, productivity, change orders and equipment reporting
- Model outstanding leadership skills and foster those skills in others
- Manage and develop labor and employee relations
- Develop and maintain business relationships including attending customer meetings and preparing proposals and bids
- Maintain liaison with support operations to ensure all required materials and equipment support project activities and schedule
- Ensure all project work is compliant with installation standards, is being performed safely and correctly, and is billed in a timely manner
- Directly responsible for managing supervisors and crews
- Responsible for training, mentoring, and developing employees in career progression Assist Director of Construction as necessary
Requirements:
- Minimum ten (10) years of natural gas-pipeline construction and replacement experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a supervisory/management role
- Attention to detail, organization skills, management skills, project management skills, negotiation skills, customer relation skills, strong communications and interpersonal skills, strong leadership skills
- Proficient knowledge of natural gas installation techniques and standards
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds and stand for four (4) hour periods of time
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, and crouch and work in tight spaces
- Must be able to perform strenuous labor under poor or less than ideal field conditions
- Must be able to quickly move arms and legs and abdominal and lower back muscles
- Must be able to work around moving equipment that is loud and noisy
